Dear Delta Gamma Sisters,
Welcome to the Pittsburgh South Hills Alumnae chapter 2016-2017 program year! Chartered on February 23, 1959, our membership has welcomed Delta Gamma alumnae living in and around the South Hills of Pittsburgh for over 55 years! How grateful we are to those women who had the foresight to provide to so many who followed them with the opportunity for friendship and support much as Anna, Eva and Mary did in 1873.
Our general meetings are held throughout the year with opportunities such as lunch bunches, dinner gatherings, theater events and other special events. As women, we fill many roles and lead busy lives. Our program calendar is filled with a variety of activities and we hope that you will join us for as many as you can. Whether you enjoy service to our Foundation, supporting our collegians locally or at a distance, or simply would like to enjoy friendship and fun I would love to see you and encourage you to join us. Remember that to be in good standing as an alumna, you are simply asked to pay your dues. There is no requirement to attend any particular meeting. Simply attend what appeals to you and what your schedule allows. Know that you are always welcome and valued whenever you attend any Delta Gamma event.
I so appreciated the welcome and friendship that I found in this chapter when I moved to Pittsburgh years ago. I love the fact that we are all from different chapters and areas of the country but share common bonds. Our lives may change as our roles change, but through it all, we still need friendship, laughter, conversation and a warm smile from those that understand and care. You will find sisterhood here. Whether you are a familiar face or new to the group, I would love to see you to join us as we begin our 2016-2017 DG year! Let’s Do Good together!

For two decades, SHIM (South Hills Interfaith Movement) has connected neighbors in need with holiday gifts at our annual Angel Emporium with the help of hard-working volunteers, local congregations, school groups and our community. This year, because of changing needs, the program is being reimagined. By changing the program to solely accept gift cards, parents that are helped by SHIM can experience the joy of holiday shopping – and bargain hunting – while choosing the most appropriate gifts for their children. SHIM will collect gift cards in $25 increments from Giant Eagle, Target, Wal-Mart, Amazon, Visa or MasterCard, and distribute them to our families at a holiday celebration in November. SHIM will also be collecting cash donations to purchase additional gift cards for the program.
