President’s Message

My Delta Gamma Sisters:

Welcome All! As I return from our biennial convention and head into my second year of my term as your South Hills Delta Gamma Chapter President, I continue to be amazed by our Fraternity. We remain leaders amongst other Panhellenic groups in fundraising for our philanthropy – The Delta Gamma Foundation and its Service for Sight Projects. Our South Hills Alumnae Chapter continues to “Do Good” each year contributing to service for site projects and earned alumnae recognition at convention including the Five Star to Alumnae Success Award and recognition for both Outstanding Philanthropy Service and Fundraising. I am eager to continue doing good, having fun and working with such an amazing group of women this year.

Chartered on February 23, 1959, our membership has welcomed Delta Gamma Alumnae living in and around the South Hills of Pittsburgh for over 55 years! Our general meeting are held throughout the year with several other social opportunities such as lunch bunches, dinners, theatrical events and other special events.

Locally, our chapter participates in a successful pecan sale each year enabling us to support numerous charities both locally and nationally. We continue to sell our delicious mammoth half pecans, (great for baking, salads and just eating) and the very popular chocolate covered pecans as our annual fundraiser. Please start gathering your list of pecan customers now so we will continue to have a successful pecan sale later this Fall. We also collect Campbell’s Soup Labels and General Mills BoxTops for Education to support blind schools across the country. Last year we ranked 9th collecting these labels for education. We also provide support for three area collective chapters: Beta Nu at Carnegie Mellon University, Epsilon Delta at Washington and Jefferson College, and Epsilon Eta at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Convention speaker and Delta Gamma alumnae, Erin Reach Condren, stated, “Friendship lasts forever when sisters come together.” This year is no exception. Our executive board has organized some awesome programs for us to enjoy; as well as keeping our perennial favorites. We hope that you will join us for as many programs as you can. Remember that to be in “Good Standing” as an alumna, you are simply asked to pay your dues. There is no requirement to attend any particular meetings. Simply attend what appeals to you most and what your schedule allows. Know that you are always welcome and valued whenever you attend any Delta Gamma event.

As women, we will many roles and lead busy lives. Our lives may change as our roles change, but though it all, we still need friendships, laughter, conversation, and a warm smile from those that understand and care. No matter what roles you fulfill, you will find sisterhood amount us. Whether you are a familiar face or new to our group, I invite you to join us as we begin another exciting DG year.

for hope, for strength, for life.
